Christophe Bourgouin BA (Hons), PGCLTHE
Biography
Christophe is a sound engineer and educator with a background in music production, theatre sound and immersive audio.
A classically trained pianist, he developed an early interest in synthesizers and sound recording. At the age of 15 he joined a local radio station as a trainee technician, where he learned to operate professional audio equipment.
After studying at ESRA, the College of Audio-Visual Technologies in Paris, Christophe began his career as an assistant engineer in recording studios. He then worked as a freelance sound engineer, specialising in music recording and sound design.
He relocated to the UK to focus on theatre sound and musicals, working on West End, UK and international touring productions. During this time he progressed to Head of Sound on shows including The Producers, Hair, Fame, Hairspray, Young Frankenstein and Grease.
Christophe moved into higher education, teaching sound at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He subsequently worked with L-Acoustics in London as a consultant on the development of the L-ISA immersive audio system.
He later joined Rose Bruford College, where he led the Audio Production course for six years.
Christophe now teaches sound at Ravensbourne University while continuing to work as a freelance sound engineer, recording and mixing commercially released albums across a range of genres including pop, rock, jazz and classical.
