Chris Bushell BA, MBA, DBA, FHEA
Biography
Chris Bushell is an entrepreneur, digital marketer, educator and researcher spanning e-commerce, web development, higher education and digital innovation.
In the 2010s, Chris developed and managed a range of e-commerce ventures and small business websites, gaining extensive practical experience in online marketing, digital strategy and web technologies. He also founded and operated a third-party Google certification training company, supporting individuals and organisations in developing digital marketing skills and industry-recognised qualifications.
Alongside his entrepreneurial activities, Chris has worked across several UK universities, including the University of Sunderland and the University of Westminster, where he has contributed to the design and delivery of digital marketing curricula. His work has included developing innovative teaching materials, building data dashboards and integrating emerging technologies into higher education practice.
Chris's research interests focus on the intersection of technology, learning and digital society. His work has explored topics including the Metaverse, the risks and implications of social media, artificial intelligence and prompt engineering, and the use of AI tools to enhance critical thinking. More recently, he has focused on student engagement through gamification and the development of interactive digital lecture materials designed to create more immersive and participatory learning experiences, such as the class analytics simulation at analyticsimulation.base44.app (currently at the trial stage).
Combining industry expertise with academic practice, Chris continues to explore how emerging technologies can be applied to improve education, digital communication and learner engagement.
