Concept and creative process
The titles for ‘Westbeach’ were inspired by that symbol of the British seaside - the stick of rock with the place name running through it. It was created in a 3D computer-generated animation, complete with cellophane wrapper covering the rock and a souvenir picture of the fictional Westbeach Pier, aka Eastbourne. As part of the animation, the frames for the cast portraits uncurled from underneath the stick of rock as it rotated. The cast photographs were tracked to the movement and composited in post-production.
