Vets To The Rescue (1999)

Concept and creative process

Trude Mostue presented ‘Vets to the Rescue’, a series following animals being treated at the surgery in Chester Zoo. The programme logo design, with its green cross motif surrounded by a circle of purple, determined the layout and colouring of the multi-screen format adopted by the designers. The three vertical or horizontal screens making the cross were used primarily to highlight the vets’ treatment of animals, while the surrounding screens all contained part of a different related image. Sometimes one image became dominant and filled all of the screens, so by ringing the changes in this manner the designers were able to vary the choreography of the whole sequence.
