The Two Ronnies Christmas Show (1982)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a comedy sketch show featuring the double act of Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett. The opening sequence for this Christmas special show featured illustrations of festive fare such as a pudding, a cracker, a tree and of course the Two Ronnies with their signature specs in Santa outfits, beards and hats, seen against a background of ever-changing Christmas lights, created with 4-frame mixes on back-lit artwork. All of the elements were filmed separately in-camera on a rostrum camera, with the show title and the stars’ credits animated on by revealing back-lit artwork stop-frame as a superimposition.
