Till Death Us Do Part (1966)

Concept and creative process

Warren Mitchell starred as curmudgeonly bigot Alf Garnett in Johnny Speight's classic sitcom 'Till Death Us Do Part'. Other members of the excellent cast were Dandy Nichols as his long-suffering wife, Una Stubbs as the daughter Rita, married to a Liverpudlian layabout Mike, played by Anthony Booth. Mike's socialist values frequently caused him to cross swords with his Tory voting father-in-law. The titles for the production were superimposed over shots of Westminster and Big Ben and over aerial shots of the East End.
