The Really Wild Show (1996)

Concept and creative process

The opening titles for ‘The Really Wild Show’, a children's wildlife programme with reports from across the world. The concept for the sequence was wild animals sucked up in the vortex of a tornado which spewed them out to land in a pile on top of a hapless chameleon. The sequence was created in stop-frame animation of the animals in a model set, then keyed over a tornado vortex, created in 2D drawn animation in digital post-production. The spiral theme continued from the opening animation of the chameleon’s tail through to the vortex effect on the title logo and its resolution into the programme.
