Points of View (1999)

Concept and creative process

Titles for 'Points of View' - a viewer feedback programme, hosted by Terry Wogan from 1999 to 2007, which gave viewers a platform on which to air their views about BBC programmes in general. This clip of the 1999 titles produced originally for the Des Lynham hosted series, was a humorous apology by the BBC for the cancellation of the show in favour of a live snooker programme. The nailbiting conclusion to the live snooker match must have been anticipated in advance so that an alternative ending could be produced with the full co-operation of Wogan and the designer of the titles, Carolyn Carter, who devised at short notice the jokey ending. The titles were a multi-layered 3D CGI sequence of a multistorey toy car track with screens built into the structure, displaying images of members of the public airing their views.
