Performance (1995)

Concept and creative process

The titles for 'Performance', a strand of drama plays, were conceived as a theatrical event, with a large array of television monitors suspended from the lighting gantry above the stage of a theatre. A large monitor rises up through the stage trapdoor displaying the letters that will ultimately be part of the title logo 'Performance', while the suspended monitors descend simultaneously from the gantry on wires, displaying images of the actors who will be appearing in the plays. Lighting and smoke effects complete the illusion and the elegant typographic title logo dissolves on and dramatically comes into focus centre screen.
