Parkinson (1975)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for the long-running talk show, in which Michael Parkinson conversed with a series of celebrity guests. The stock features – the host’s walk-down on stage, the opening live theme music and the logo – were all still a hallmark of the programme. However, a montage of tracks and pans over close-up portraits of interviewees, pre-filmed on a rostrum camera,  had now become a feature of the title sequence, with a wide panning shot of the whole montage, matching the movement of the ‘Parkinson’ logo.
