Opening titles for ‘The New Masters’, a series profiling different artists and art movements. Piet Mondrian’s abstracts inspired the multi-image layout of the title sequence as a way of trailing some of the work that would be discussed in the series. It also was also behind the idea for the title caption, reducing a screen filled with linear rectangles and squares to the simple rectilinear form of the programme logo.
