My Kind of Music (1981)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a music programme featuring different artistes were shot using back-lit artwork of a moonlit, partly cloudy night sky, panning under a rostrum camera. The programme title was animated on as a second exposure by filming the text and treble clef in reverse, zooming out from a close-up of the whole title and zooming in on the treble clef, as the backlit coloured lettering was painted out to black under the camera. This gave the end result of the title appearing to write on of its own accord.
