Concept and creative process
Opening titles for a series featuring a mixture of sketches and stand-up comedy from Eric Morecambe, Ernie Wise and guests. For the titles, a clear on black Kodalith was made of the complete title frame and coloured with gels. It was filmed back lit on a rostrum camera table. The animation of the names ‘Eric & Ernie’ was created by filming the sequence in reverse and painting out the lettering with opaque colour and covering up the surnames, so that when run forwards the names appeared to write on.
