Titles for ‘Magic Animals’, a series of four richly theatrical films exploring the place of the wolf, the bear, the snake and the dolphin in the human imagination, narrated by Miranda Richardson. Designer Steve Burrell of Burrell Durrant Hifle recalls working on the titles: “Myself and Luis Cook worked on this series in the early 1990s. We filmed on the moors near Whitby in Yorkshire. The aim was to evoke the inner spirit of the animals without showing any of them directly. We were creating the mood for what was to follow (which was pretty mad) - a kind of native-American drug-induced vision into the mind of the beast.”
