The Lenny Henry Show (1987)

Concept and creative process

Another iconic and seminal piece of work from Paul D'Auria for the opening titles of 'Brixton Broadcasting Corporation', aka 'The Lenny Henry Show', created and animated on a Quantel Harry by Mike McGee at Framestore. Their exploration of the possibilities of digital technology for creating a fun, richly multi-layered montage of graphic elements and text were highly influential. Paul D'Auria's visual interpretation took its cues from the lyrics sung by Lenny Henry. Digital technology gave the designer a great deal of creative freedom to manipulate text, graphic symbols and imagery and live action of the presenter into a seamless and perfectly judged title sequence.
