Home Front (1995)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a series about home design and decoration with help from various experts. The idea for 'Home Front' was to create an illusion of moving seamlessly through a series of styled interiors, which were revealed at the end to be within a doll's house. The sequence begins with a designer at work alongside her pet dalmation, which reappears at the end as if in another dimension. Series Producer was Daisy Goodwin. The sequence was shot motion control at Cell Animation's White City studio by Director of Photography Doug Foster. Multiple sets were built that overlapped during a continuous camera move, ending with a scaled-up track back from a doll's house. A real dalmatian dog from the opening scene was hidden behind the dolls' house and (thankfully) performed to run out on cue.
