Ella Fitzgerald, the world's greatest jazz singer, with The Johnnie Spence Orchestra and the Tommy Flanagan Trio in a BBC2 presentation. The title sequence was created live on the day using abstract shots of the studio décor as backgrounds for the credits, which were superimposed from slides.
