The Editors (1978)

Concept and creative process

Titles for an investigative journalism programme which examined the pressures on the press worldwide. For the title sequence, copies of all of the major newspapers and the TV logos of all of the UK broadcast channels were shown in a continuous zooming stream superimposed alternately over one another and revolving in opposite directions and changing direction on the beat of the music. The programme title ‘The Editors’ was also part of the mix, zooming up over the stream of images and cutting out, before finally resolving in screen centre. The whole sequence was filmed on a rostrum camera and captured in-camera.
