Did You See? (1980)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a television review programme that looked back at the week's television with a discussion between the presenter Ludovic Kennedy and three guests. The sequence showed stills from BBC shows of all genres, initially individually, but as the camera zoomed back it revealed a grid arrangement of 36 stills on revolving blocks that moved in sync with the music. As the animation progressed glimpses of partial letterforms appeared among the stills, until finally all of the facets containing elements of the programme logo animated on sequentially from north to south, turning all of the other facets to black. Animated stop motion on a specially constructed model under a rostrum camera set-up.
