Cool It (1986)

Concept and creative process

The opening titles for a series in which comedy impressionist, Phil Cool, looked at the world through the eyes of famous personalities. The animated sequence was filmed on a rostrum camera mostly using the traditional back-painted cel technique. A cut-out and coloured sequence of stills of Phil Cool gurning and revolving through 360 degrees occupied the latter part of the sequence, before returning via a cel animated explosion to the final multiplane sequence with a cel animation of cogs and wheels on the middle planes.
