Concept and creative process
Titles for the first series of a police drama set in a crime-ridden area of Manchester. It was written and created by Malcolm Dalton and aired for three seasons between 1998-2000, with a focus mainly on the bobby on the beat. The title sequence was a restless compilation of hand-held camera footage and shots of police cars in action, nicely synced to the music. It was composed of a letterbox shape containing the sequence set against a background of industrial embossed steel which resolved to become the background for the programme logo.
