Choices (1982)

Concept and creative process

Libby Purves invited members of the public who had each had to face a crucial decision of conscience to describe the choice they had made. The title sequence was filmed live action and consisted of a metal ball rolling through the maze-like shapes created by the programme logo which had been constructed as a physical 3D model. A visual metaphor for the decision-making process, the ball ends as the dot on the ā€˜iā€™, the moment of resolution.
