The Bones Of Colonel Fawcett (1999)

Concept and creative process

Titles for Benedict Allen’s odyssey to Brazil, attemping to solve the mysterious disappearance in 1925 of distinguished British adventurer Colonel Percy Harrison Fawcett, who was searching for El Dorado, the lost legendary city of gold. The titles were commissioned by independent producer/director Ruhi Hamid, herself a distinguished BBC motion graphics designer in her earlier career. The background map was drawn by Kevin Hill and the hand-written letters visible in the background were also created by him. Additional props came from the BBC Small Props Department. The props were filmed on a BBC rostrum camera and the programme footage was composited by Kevin Hill on a Quantel HAL.
