Concept and creative process
This sting was a combination of a motion control shoot on a set and an explosion of animation and effects created at Cell Animation by Jane Walker for the 1987 BBC One Christmas Sting. The camera peers through a roof skylight at the Christmas scene below. Coloured lights dart around illuminating the scene and causing a bag of Christmas baubles and streamers to burst open and reveal the specially designed BBC1 Christmas logo with the ‘1’ in the shape of a flickering, glowing candle.
