Concept and creative process
The Presentation New Year sting ‘Into ‘86’ was based loosely on Jasper Johns’ number paintings. The canvas was painted in acrylic live under the film rostrum camera by Rod Jordan. It was shot in-camera by cameraman Colin Hancock in one continuous take and so no editing was necessary. The music is from the Shostakovich Symphony No 4.
