BBC One 'Christmas Lights' ident (2010)

Concept and creative process

The two 2010 BBC One Christmas idents ‘Christmas Lights’ were shot as part of the ‘Everyone’s Home for Christmas’ campaign in which the trailers featured BBC stars coming home and included Matt Lucas and David Walliams in their characters from ‘Come Fly with Me’. This ident continued the circular theme of the wider BBC One ident campaign with a charming scenario featuring the lights being switched on for Christmas on the roofs of family homes in a circular suburban close. The lights are nicely animated to the music to create a joyful, welcoming Christmas scene. There is a beautifully filmed live action preamble to the scenario involving guests arriving for Christmas at a house as the light animations begin.
