Concept and creative process
Opening titles for a series about Sherlock Holmes' little helpers. An animation of the familiar shape of Sherlock Holmes in shadow form and a puff of pipe smoke introduced a sequence of beautifully drawn portraits of the child actors in the series, each one mixing in and out on a textured paper background filmed on a rostrum camera. Finally, the children are all depicted as a group and the camera tracks out and pans to reveal them in a cameo shape as part of the programme title logo.
