Concept and creative process
Stephen Tompkinson presented a compilation of clips featuring his heroes Eric and Ernie in some of their most memorable adventures. The titles took the form of a hardback photo album, gold-blocked in a typographic style reminiscent of the ‘Boy’s Own’ annual. Within it excerpts from their shows were vignetted, incorporating simulated page turns and a follow spotlight effect. The sequence, which was animated and composited in a digital post-production edit, ended with the actual album cover closing in real time to bring on the show’s title.
