You must provide evidence of your English language ability to study at Ravensbourne, unless you are exempt.

Body text

Most students from outside the UK need to submit an English language test as proof of their English language ability in order to study at foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate level, unless exempt by Ravensbourne or you meet UKVI exemptions from English language testing requirements.

At Ravensbourne, we accept a range of English language tests, including IELTS. Find out more about our English language entry requirements to foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate courses below.

English Language requirement for Foundation Diploma courses:

Please note, only a Secure English Language Test approved by UKVI (SELT) is accepted by Ravensbourne for the purposes of Student Route visa applications for study at Foundation level. Applicants intending to study on our Foundation programmes must take and/or submit a SELT that appears on the UKVI list and on Ravensbourne’s list of accepted qualifications. A list of UKVI approved centres can be found here

Accepted English Language Tests

As a UK higher education institute, Ravensbourne can accept other English language tests and international qualifications in addition to accredited SELTs (Secure English Language Tests).  Please see below for our current list of accepted tests and qualifications .

We can also use other means to assess whether an applicant meets Ravensbourne’s specific minimum English language score requirement for Bachelor and Master degree study, and we do so on a case by case basis.

Please note: All tests/qualifications are accepted with a validity period of two years from the date the result was certificated and must be valid on the date the course starts, with the exception of WAEC and International Baccalaureate.

International Qualifications

We can also consider some specific international qualifications for meeting our English language entry requirements.

Please note: All tests/qualifications are accepted with a validity period of two years from the date the result was certificated and must be valid on the date the course starts, with the exception of WAEC, Norway Vitnemål, and International Baccalaureate which do not expire.
