If I Ruled The World (1998)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a political comedy panel quiz, hosted by Clive Anderson. Guests join captains Graeme Garden and Jeremy Hardy each week in a series of light-hearted challenges testing their abilities to be modern politicians. The title sequence was designed in 3D CGI animation with constant background and foreground layers of thousands of X ballot slips tumbling and falling through space. Keyed between the ballot slip layers was the rotating globe of the Earth, surrounded by a flat ring, hinged at the centre and coloured red and blue, bearing bas-relief symbols of power, justice and the United Kingdom in Europe. The ring constantly split and hinged down as it rotated about the globe, its edges also forming an ‘X’ as it did so, until it revealed the title running around its flat circumference.
