Biography

Alyas Latif’s passion and natural strength very much lies within higher education and the desire to develop creative and innovative learning experiences for students. In particular, working with the creative industry to create exciting, enriching and contextually relevant design programmes of study and projects which enable students to enjoy and be inspired to embark their creative journey into HE or employment.  

Alyas is Course Leader in User Experience and User Interface Design at Ravensbourne University.  He is an excellent academic leader with two decades of experience in pedagogy, leadership, and management of university level courses from L3-L7 within the Design subject area.  

His Subject specialisations include User Experience & User Interface Design | Digital Interactive Design – Future Foresight | Architecture & Contemporary Interior Design | Visual Communication & Graphic Design | Global Business & Design Management | Sustainability and Creative Leadership - Entrepreneurship.

As Creative Director at Alyas Latif Architecture Ltd, with 20+ years’ experience Alyas’s strength lies in his approach through leading multi-disciplinary design teams in order to achieve creative design solutions.  Prior to founding Alyas Latif Architecture Ltd, Alyas worked internationally on projects in the UK, mainland Europe and the Middle East on complex and large building projects.  He was designer-in-charge of many award-winning projects for public and private clients, across a range of sectors including residential, mixed-use, aviation, office and corporate buildings, which has enabled him to foster a strong design studio ethos and culture.  His professional practice is a huge benefit to the students experience and his network for their future employability and career progression. 

Alyas’ achievements include Master’s in Art and Architecture with Distinction in Design from the University of Westminster in 2002 for my diploma in Architecture. He was also awarded the Building Design Journal’s student of the year award in 2002 for my project “absence” under the leadership of Ms Jeanne Sillett.  Alyas led on the BA (Hons) Global Business & Design Management course at Regent’s University London.  At London Collage of Contemporary Arts, he was the Subject Lead in Design for the Collage, and the Course Director on BA (Hons) Graphic Design and Visual Communication.  At Ravensbourne University he leads as the Course Leader on Ba (Hons) User Experience and User Interface, Interactive Design.  He is the founder of Alyas Latif Architecture an architectural and contemporary interior design consultancy.  He also served as a member of Southwark Councils’ design review panel.
