Undergraduate Students'Work Example

Wrangler Project

In Fall 2017 over 100 students at Ravensbourne, studying for undergraduate degrees in Fashion Design, Fashion Accessory Design and Fashion Buying and Brand Management, were invited to collaborate with each other to create 18 revolutionary denim collections. The brief was set by VF Corporation, with students asked to consider how the Western heritage of the Wrangler brand could be reinterpreted for a modern, high-end consumer.

Over the course of 12 weeks, each team produced a collection, including prototype garments and accessories, range plans, marketing strategies and promotional materials. These were then exhibited at a Trade Show, at The Bargehouse in central London, at the culmination of the project.

This book is designed as a record, not just of the final work produced, but also the development process each group went through. It documents their interpretations of the Wrangler brand, and hopes to contribute new ideas to inspire further innovation.

Throughout the collaboration the student teams were supported and advised by the Ravensbourne Fashion Department, the VF Corporation Design Science team and received additional tutoring from denim experts working in industry.
