Learn the fundamentals of graphic design, as well as opening your mind to wide and varied views on this form of visual communication. This course balances theory and practice, covering the basic principles that form the foundations of graphic design.  You will discuss, experiment and explore with colour theory, typography, composition, shape & scale as well as looking at the applications and uses of the discipline. An ideal course if you're considering a career in graphic design or want to learn more about design priniciples.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, you will understand why design is so important. This will include how the use of colour can affect your audience and how to create a hiearchy through layout. You'll learn how to select the right typeface and the rationale behind this. You'll also learn that the whitespace is your friend, as well as why typesetting and type size is important.
