Part 1 Portfolio Development and Review

In the competitive world of architecture, getting your next job doesn't just depend on the skills listed on your CV; a great portfolio is a crucial tool to help you beat the competition. 

Creating a professional portfolio is essential for architecture graduates to showcase their body of work and experience effectively. This hands-on and practical course will support you in creating your own portfolio that is mapped against external criteria (e.g. ARB, RIBA and CSD).  

Topics covered

    • Requirements and objectives in the preparation of individual portfolios
    • The development of one project (an exemplar) in the portfolio, including traditional and digital techniques
    • Alternative practices
    • Learning from others and sharing practices
    • Portfolio development
    • Interview techniques
    • Presentation of your portfolio

 

Learning outcomes

On completion of this course, you will have produced a professional portfolio mapped against external criteria; e.g. ARB, RIBA, CSD. You will also have gained awareness and understanding of the:

  • regulations which underpin the portfolio as a document for professional recognition
  • techniques used in the production of a portfolio for assessment in a professional context
  • criteria as they are applied to the assessment of a portfolio for professional recognitions
  • requirements for application for professional recognition by portfolio, experience and interview
  • graphical and digital techniques used in the production of a portfolio, including online/web presentations
