If you cannot meet any of the criteria above, you will need to sit an IELTS academic test and then provide Ravensbourne with your IELTS reference number or scanned copy of your test certificate in order for us to verify it.
Please note, Trinity College London and IELTS are the only two providers currently approved by UKVI (and Ravensbourne) to provide Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) for Tier 4 (General) student visa applications. Applicants intending to study on our Foundation programmes must take and/or submit an IELTS Academic for UKVI test.
Please note that the minimum IELTS scores (or equivalent) usually required to study at Ravensbourne is as follows:
Further Education: 5.0 in each of the four subcomponents of language learning (reading, writing, speaking and listening);

Postgraduate: 6.5 overall and a minimum of 6.0 in each of the four subcomponents of language learning (reading, writing, speaking and listening).
As a UK HEI, Ravensbourne can accept other English language tests, in addition to those from IELTS and Trinity, or use other means to assess whether an applicant who will be studying at NQF level 6 or 7 is competent in English language at a minimum of CEFR level B2 and/or Ravensbourne’s specific minimum English language score requirement and will do so on a case by case basis. However, applicants who do not meet all/some of the IELTS score requirements for their level of study may be asked to undertake an internal English language proficiency assessment or advised to enrol on Ravensbourne pre-sessional English language programme. Applicants for undergraduate and postgraduate study if proficient at CEFR level B1 must submit an IELTS SELT 'IELTS Academic for UKVI' test certificate or Trinity SELT in order to demonstrate their English language ability.
