My career in the media industry as a commercial stills photographer has extended over 25 years and from it I draw inspiration for my university lecturing.
The majority of my work has involved shooting portraits, product, landscape & documentary for corporate & editorial clients both in the studio and on location. I have worked with analogue and digital capture on all camera formats from 35mm to 10×8. Experience of running a small business has taught me the additional key skills of; networking, project management, self-promotion, marketing, inter-personal skills, team-working, etc.
The BA (Hons) digital photography course that Ravensbourne offers feels like a natural home for me as it incorporates much of the ethos I learnt as an assistant/apprentice together with it’s very strong industry focus. I’ve previously taught at LCC, teach summer school at CSM and run occasional workshops at universities in Birmingham, Falmouth, Derby and Swansea whilst still maintaining my own professional practice.
I have a PGCE from CSM and am currently studying for an MA in Photojournalism & Documentary Photography at LCC. I speak Spanish, write a number of blogs, take a keen interest in media, current affairs, literature, cinema, Spanish language and culture, music, cooking, walking, yoga and meditation.
