With over 35 years experience in corporate & editorial portraiture, annual reports & accounts, prospectuses, etc for both print and web Julian specialises in studio practice, location and studio lighting, portraiture, documentary and still life photography. He also covers professional practice, marketing, blogging, self-promotion, personal branding and the day to day details of running a freelance practice.
During his career he has built a strong network of contacts across a wide range of sectors including photography, graphics, broadcast, production, advertising, editorial and publishing. From his contacts he regularly invites people in to speak with the student body including film director Susana Sotelo, The Guardian’s head of photography Roger Tooth, picture editor Loren Lazic-Duffy, photographers Seamus Murphy, Martin Parr and Kaj Patel, blogger/photographer Lewis Bush, digital operator Jo-Anna Rohmann and more.
During each terms Reading Week Julian arranges practical masterclasses with Leica, Hasselblad, Phase One, Elinchrom, and Sony - inviting professional image makers to lead the workshop in collaboration with industry partners.
