I trained as a 3D designer at the innovative Hornsey College of Art and graduated with an Honours Diploma in Art and Design, as an Inner London Education Authority educational technologist and a B.A. Hons. Education.
I’ve worked and taught for many years in all sectors of education but predominately art, design & media in London universities. Also as an educator responsible for educational technology and the early adoption into the curriculum of high end digital innovation in photography and imaging, broadcast video production and publishing design.
My experience in running a freelance production business in new media design, video production and imaging has always informed my teaching by allowing me to draw on those commercial experiences. At that time I operated with both corporate, educational & broadcast clients and developed strong connections to both the BBC & the independent companies.
I’ve had responsibility for setting up innovative and successful courses, currently the BA (Hons) Digital Photography at Ravensbourne which I designed from the ground up to take a fresh look at photography education yet prepare students for working in a rapidly changing and creative sector. Apart from teaching commitments I also travel extensively in South America for business and leisure, work with schools, colleges and universities in Europe and Asia, and as an external examiner to art & design courses across the UK. I’ve also been secretary for the Association of Photography in Higher Education and in addition I speak German.
