Jockel Liess is an audiovisual artist and composer, predominantly working within the field of live-generative immersive environments.
In his mainly abstract work, he explores ideas of structural composition, microtonality and interconnected sound/image relations, as well as the organic flexibility of natural systems as an improvising force within his time based work. The continuous research underlying his artistic practice focuses on Post-Cagian music and art, Zen aesthetic and Chaos Theory.
Jockel graduated with an MMus in Studio Composition from the Electronic Music Studio at Goldsmiths University of London in 2012 and an BA(hons) in Fine Art from Byam Shaw School of Art in 2000. He exhibits his large-scale audiovisual installations and compositions in gallery environments, festivals and concerts nationally and internationally. In 2016 he started releasing recordings of his work with the label Resterecords, and in addition to his solo practice has collaborated on a variety of projects with other artists, musicians and filmmakers.
