Tine is a professional artist and researcher (PhD) working at the intersection of art, technology and play. Working with programmers, designers and engineers, she creates interactive and playful projects, realising commissions from museums, galleries, and public art commissions to theatres, business spaces, and public urban places.
In today’s digital automated sensor based world, Tine Bech’s studio is a facilitator of innovative thinking, using technology to create large-scale public artworks, interactive spaces, and participatory games that engage people into play and participation where human experiences are at the center. Tine is renowned for her amazing artworks that pop up in unexpected places. From bridges that light up as people pass over them, to live events where communities swim in clouds of Olympic colours, to battles played on bicycles in the city, her works actively explore the relationship between people, technology and space.
Her work has been shown both nationally and internationally, in venues including The Victoria and Albert Museum (UK), The Science Museum (UK), SIGGRAPH (LA, US), Aarhus Centre for Contemporary Art (DK), Trøndelag Centre of Contemporary Arts (Norway), The Royal British Sculptors Gallery (UK). Bech has also completed commissions from The Playable City (Brazil), 2012 Cultural Olympiad, Canary Wharf Light Festival, British Council, Visit Reykjavik (Iceland), Bristol Enterprise Zone, and ACT (Orchestre de Picardie, Royal Opera House, University for the Creative Arts).
