Beatrice Korlekie Newman

Beatrice Korlekie Newman, aka KORLEKIE, is a womenswear and knitwear designer whose collections stand for alluring elegance and gothic glamour with a strong influence in traditional crafts.

Much of the textile processes Korlekie uses include knitwear and the manipulation of fabrics and knitwear through beading, embroidery and other forms of fabric embellishment.

The brand’s collections rely on the mix of various luxurious yarns in diffusible textures, which enables the designer to create elegant and contemporary fashion pieces. Most garments in the brand’s collection are ‘hand’ bespoke as Korlekie creates unique fabric for each piece.

Since the ending of the designer’s degree(s), Korlekie has gone on to win prestigious awards such as The Framework Knitters Guild sponsorship in 2009 and also won the Hand and Lock Prize for Embroidery the same year.

To cement her success and continual rise in the fashion industry, Korlekie was invited to Buckingham Palace for the annual fashion reception in 2010 where she met with the Queen along with upcoming designers such as Christopher Kane and top retail platforms such as Net-a-porter. She has had her work published in the book, ‘Marketing Fashion’ by Harriet Posner.

Korlekie clothes have been worn on celebrities such as Rita Ora, Alesha Dixon, Anna Friel and Ellie Goulding amongst many other high profile clients, and continues to receive positive editorial feedback from the fashion press including: Vogue, Elle, Fault and Dazed Digital.
