Shemu Mohammad Digital Photography alumni

Shemu Mohammad

Biography

Shemu is responsible for capturing the exclusive Nike parties and promotions that take place at its flagship store on Oxford Street in London. His shots have catapulted him to social media success too, which in turn has led to multiple freelance projects.

Shemu was initially drawn to Ravensbourne because it was one of the few universities around London which offered a full Digital Photography course. The excellent location of the university next to the 02 Arena and Greenwich, and with close links to central London, was also a big deciding factor.

For Shemu, the highlight of the course was learning about medium format cameras in his second year. This photography style captured his imagination and helped him to shape his own unique creative style.

Discussing the benefits of the course Shemu said: “Having a degree in digital photography gave me an advantage in my field, I learned a lot about post-production which differentiated me from my competitors in the industry”.

Shemu keeps in regular contact with his course tutors and often asks them for advice as he develops his own practice.

When asked what advice he would give to other students, Shemu remarked: “always be curious and never be afraid to ask anything. Also, make links with people related to your industry, collaborating is a big part of any art degree.”
