Paul Sternberg MA


Paul Sternberg is Director of Design Innovation and Principal Research Fellow at Ravensbourne University London.

In this capacity he oversees a number of the university’s social innovation and civic engagement projects, as well as being responsible for designing and leading the portfolio of postgraduate courses in design, business and innovation.

Before his appointment at Ravensbourne in 2013, Paul was Chief Executive of the Peter De Haan Charitable Trust, investing over £3m a year into young people’s ideas and creativity through a digital ‘open innovation’ platform.

Paul has many years of educational experience in the broadcasting sector where, as Managing Editor of Education at Channel 4 Television Corporate, he helped redefine the public service remit of Channel 4 for the multi-media and multi-channel age and oversaw a range of award winning learning-based commissions.

Paul has been involved with setting up social enterprises and charities such as Ethical Media, The Media Trust, ProtegeTV and, as Director of Communications at Business in the Community, he worked with leading FTSE companies transforming their community-giving programmes into strategic civic renewal and corporate social responsibility programmes.

Working with leading economists and educationalists in the UK, Paul is involved with Action for Happiness, a mass movement campaign to bring happiness, emotional and psychological wellbeing into the heartlands of public policy, education and community development.

Paul is Chairman of Key4Life, an innovative social enterprise working with the rehabilitation of young offenders and those at risk of offending. Paul is also the Co-Chair of the cultural and civic renewal initiative, Arts Over Borders and is a member of the National Council of Citizens UK.
