Ravensbourne student selected for the Mayor's Entrepreneur internship
BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures student, Mena Said, has been selected for the Mayor’s Entrepreneur internship at London’s City Hall.
From a total of 300 applicants, Mena was selected among the final 20 interns, having submitted a letter detailing her skills and background, as well as pitching a plan around how to help promote the competition.
The Mayor’s Entrepreneur internship runs every year at City Hall, taking degree level students through the process of pitching a business idea to City Hall, which is centered around making London a “better place to live and work”.
The placement lasts for six months, and is structured so as not to disrupt students’ studies, taking up a total of four hours per week. At the end of the process, a winning candidate is selected to receive £20,000 to turn their idea into a reality, as well as support and guidance from City Hall experts.
Commenting, Mena Said, BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures student said: “I’m incredibly happy to have been selected for the internship; it’s great to know the hard work I put into my application paid off. The feedback from previous years shows that whether you’re the winning applicant or not, the scheme offers a really special opportunity to learn from experts in the field. I have to thank my tutors who made me aware of the competition and encouraged me to apply. It’s been great to have their support, and I’m looking forward to applying the knowledge I’ve gained over the last three years across the internship.”
Idrees Rasouli, BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures Course Leader added: “The Mayor’s Entrepreneur internship scheme is a great way for students to build confidence and industry connections, as well as to improve communications and time management skills. I’m thrilled to see Mena selected; there’s a lot of competition for this prestigious internship and it takes real determination to make the final cut. I have every faith she will grab the opportunity with both hands and make the most of it.”
