Graduate has short film screened at TIFF

BA (Hons) Digital Film graduate 2016 Charlotte Regans’ final major project film 'Standby' has been selected to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

TIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Canadian cinema to film lovers. It is one of the largest film festivals in the world and has screened a number of Oscar winning films and all time classics including 12 Years a Slave, City of God, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Reservoir Dogs and Slumdog Millionaire.

Standby is about the evolving relationship of police officers Gary and Jenny and the characters they meet throughout their days.

Charlotte said: “I feel really lucky to have been selected for TIFF, I've seen some of the other short films that have been selected, all of which are incredible so it's great to be able to go out there and be amongst great filmmakers that I can learn from.

“Ravensbourne was incredible, I met people I hope to work with for a long time. They will be a constant source of inspiration as they were such a talented group of people.

“I wouldn't have applied to TIFF without my lecturer Garth's encouragement and confidence in the film, as well as he and my lecturer Ben's great edit notes which greatly improved the film.”
