Ravensbourne awarded HEFCE Social Innovation Grant
Ravensbourne has been awarded a prestigious grant by HEFCE to lead a pilot social innovation project. This will be carried out in partnership with University of Greenwich and Design Institute, Loughborough University, London. The project, A Silicon Health Valley for Greenwich, will identify and support preventative health care strategies by linking professionals involved in Smart City developments to healthcare and community networks. The focus will be on the application of digital mobile tools, smart city technologies within location-based community networks. At the heart of the project is the question of how community networks can foster collective intelligence around preventative health issues which otherwise would remain dormant.
Paul Sternberg, Head of Design Innovation said; "I am delighted that the MDes Social Innovation programme has been awarded this HEFCE grant. This will allow us to collaborate with other universities in the area to engage with the Smart City regeneration programme for Greenwich from a social and community perspective. Key to this is the role of young people and the intended impact of the project on their experiences with engaging with the Smart City agenda".
