Graduate shortlisted at New London Architecture

Alumna Stephanie Adebayo has been shortlisted for the New London Architecture (NLA) competition.

New London Architecture 02

The NLA International Ideas Competition explores innovative ideas that aim to solve the housing crisis.  Organised in collaboration with the Mayor of London, it attracts entrants from across the globe; this year alone saw 100 ideas from 16 counties being shortlisted.

Entries reflect a selection of both practical and more radical ideas: from increasing self-building and co-housing, to building over infrastructure assets, infilling council estates, and densifying the suburbs.

Stephanie graduated from Ravensbourne with a BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures. She was encouraged to enter the competition by a representative from the Mayor’s Office who attended last summer’s Degree Show and saw the potential in the final major project.

We asked Stephanie for her thoughts on this great achievement; “It was really exciting for me because a lot of the other shortlisted ideas were from some major architecture practices”.

I am keen to go into the social housing sector and work on community-led projects; getting this recognition so early on in my career is extremely valuable.

All the shortlisted entries are now on display at NLA’s Building Centre (London WC1E 7BT) until 16 January.
