The Best Model Award at Free Range 2014

It’s a good year for Sinem Osman. The BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures student has just graduated with a first class honours degree and has won the Best Model Award at Free Range 2014.

The Guardian describes Free Range as ‘a one-stop shop for work by graduates from regional arts institutions’*. The event was created to put students' work on an international platform and takes place annually at the re-furbished Truman Brewery complex in Brick Lane, in the heart of the new creative industries in East London.

Sinem Osman Copy 15The methodology behind her building project is to bridge the gap between the lack of Photo1organ donors in the UK and the declining London meat market of Smithfield and traditional British offal dishes. The building questions why people are so quick to take an organ but so reluctant to give one.

Ravensbournes facilities, intellectual capital and commitment to Digital futures all contributed to Sinem’s success. In 2014, Ravensbourne’s Architecture department has been specifically encouraging the use of hybridised rapid prototyping in project development. Sinem made extensive use of the rapid prototyping facilities in the creation of an extraordinary scale model of her project.

Following her graduation, Sinem’s talent doesn’t stop there; she has secured a job at Gensler, 38th of the 50 biggest Fortune 500 companies and hopes to pursue her varied aspirations.
