Students snap up CMI awards
Twelve Ravensbourne students have snapped up awards at this year’s CMI Management Book of the Year Awards.
The CMI (Chartered Management Institute) is the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards of management and leadership excellence.
Held in association with the British Library, this competition aims to celebrate the best of management books published or distributed in the UK, from the most inspiring to the most useful.
CMI set a brief to create 5 motion sequences, depicting the content of the winning books, to be shown at the CMI Book Awards on the evening of 3 February at the British Library Conference Centre.
Throughout the projects the students were professional and approached tasks with enthusiasm, which made them a pleasure to work with….We thought it was important to send this feedback because although they were paid a fee, we think the feedback should be relayed back to the college, as it is a reflection of the high standard of training and education at Ravensbourne.

The students attended the award ceremony for the writers of the books, where a champagne reception was held. The audience consisted of writers, leading academics, business executives, publishers, marketing companies and government officials.
The work of five students from Motion Graphics, Animation and Post Production was chosen in a competitive pitch, together with the music and sound design students, who created audio to sync with and enhance the sequences. Each of these students received £200 for their winning work. The CMI also awarded £1000 to one animation as the overall winning sequence (divided into music and visual).
