Could you tell us a bit about your business?
Vidsy helps brands create authentically original mobile video ads through our tech platform and creator network. To date we’ve produced over 3000 videos for brands like Smirnoff, Barclays and Vodafone.
What was the 'need’ in your business that you thought a live brief with students could help with?
We wanted to tap into that fresh creativity that students specialise in. People who consider digital and social media as second nature. It’s the world they’ve grown up in, so they have an instant understanding of the video platforms that we use.
How easy was it to develop the brief and what did the process entail?
The brief was crafted by our own creative team; then distributed to the lecturers and students through our tech platform. The students were great at asking relevant questions and helping push the brief forwards. Content was all submitted and shared through the Vidsy Platform.
What were the main benefits of collaborating with students?
We’re dealing with people who’re eager to learn, which is always a plus (!) but we gain people who are more aware of how immediate the message needs to be; giving instant feedback on when an ad loses them.
What advice would you give to employers thinking of developing a student brief?
Do it! You’re given creative immediacy from students, who think outside normal and deliver amazing results. The most important thing is to create a solid framework that they can work in, if you can define this then you are onto a winner.
