Mental Health Awareness Week

From 18th May - 22nd May 2020 Ravensbourne will be hosting a series of fantastic events and workshops for Mental Health Awareness Week 2020. This is a wonderful opportunity for non-students, students and staff to come together to raise awareness of Mental Health issues and advocate against social stigma. We look forward to seeing you all taking part in what will be a rewarding and fulfilling experience.

Comedy Night

Get ready for an evening of entertainment in aid of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Witness some of the UK’s finest stand-up comedians work their magic to camera.
Full line up still to be revealed and so far includes:

Tom Deacon, comedian, tv presenter and radio DJ. He has over 12 years experience and has been the host for shows on BBC2, BBC Radio1, Capital FM and YouTube football channel Copa90 and Skys F1 eSports.

Carl Donnelly, has performed comedy all over the world. He has been nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award twice he has appeared on a selection of TV shows including Mock The Week & Russell Howard’s Good News.

The Factory: Doodle Art for Wellbeing

Friday 22nd May

Learn how to create motifs using doodles arising from your subconscious self. This workshop will help you communicate your emotions and thoughts in a visual language that releases stress. You will be guided on how to combine different shapes and lines to draw and create patterns, graphics and motifs. Open to all this workshop is for beginners and only requires paper, pens and pencils.

Ashima Kumar, founder of Ashima Art believes that “art can penetrate the very deepest part of us, where no words exist”. She has years of experience hosting workshops that encourage attendees to explore unconscious thoughts and improve their cognition, many of which are meditative and proven to relieve stress.
